Former Employee Arrested for $150K Theft

New Canaan, CT – On July 14, 2017 30-year-old Pierce Shortell was charged with first degree larceny.

Police were alerted to a discrepancy in the store’s watch inventory and sales reports. The discrepancy was discovered soon after Shortell was hired in 2016 and ceased in June, 2017 the time of Shortell’s resignation.

Police discovered that Shortell was working on days when suspicious entries were made into the store’s database. Watches also went missing on days when Shortell was scheduled to work.

Police also examined FedEx Shipping records and found that several shipments were made to an Ohio address on the days when watches went missing.

That same address was linked to an eBay account that listed watches for sale.
