Suspect sentenced to 77 years after robbing over a dozen jewelry stores

On September 13, 2017, a man who mingled with celebrities and drove luxury cars was sentenced to 77 years in prison for his involvement in at least 14 jewelry store robberies in Austin, TX, Houston, TX and Ohio in 2014 and 2015.

The convicted criminal is 40-year-old Marvin Lewis. Lewis was convicted on 25 of 27 counts; including, interference with commerce by threats or violence, money laundering and unlawful use of a gun.

Authorities grew suspicious of Lewis after he deposited more than $200,000 into bank accounts although he had no legitimate source of income. Lewis has never filed returns with the IRS.

Lewis purchased luxury vehicles such as a Bentley and Maserati. He also took numerous pictures with the following celebrities; Madonna, Eddie Murphy, Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran.

Lewis was ordered to pay $1.6 million in restitution.
