Thieves steal $20K in jewelry

April 22, 2017 - Somerville, MA

On the date listed above, this suspect along with her accomplice, featured below, committed a distraction theft.

The women inquired about gold jewelry. After they were presented with several items, they said they wanted to buy all 27 pieces because they needed them for a wedding.

The suspects requested that the items be wrapped in paper towels. As one suspect pretended to help the staff, she used her wallet to conceal some of the jewelry. The second suspect then dropped the items into her bag.

The suspects presented $3,600 in cash as payment, but the funds were insufficient to make the purchase. The suspects then stated they would return with a credit card from their car, however, they never returned.

According to Somerville Police, the two women stole coins, jewelry and watches.

One suspect is described as 5’4″ and weighs 190 pounds. She is in her mid-to-late 50’s.

The second suspect is 5’5″ and weighs 160 pounds. She is believed to be in her mid 30’s.
