Jewelry Store Owner Charged After Shooting

February 24, 2023 - Wilkes-Barre Township, PA

Wilkes-Barre Township, PA – February 24, 2023 – 27-year-old Michael Anthony Caruso was recently arrested in connection to a shooting on February 24, 2023. Caruso allegedly shot at a man in the parking lot of Wyoming Valley Mall. The person Caruso is alleged to have shot at, reportedly stole from Caruso’s store. Caruso owns a jewelry store inside the mall.

Investigators learned that Caruso had chased the accused thief into the parking lot and then fired five shots at him. The alleged thief fled the scene in a burgundy Cadillac. Police retrieved five shell casings as well as a bullet hole in a vehicle that was not involved in this matter.

Caruso was arrested and charged with five counts of recklessly endangering another person for firing five shots into the mall’s parking lot, one count of shooting a gun onto roadways, one count of criminal mischief, and one count of disorderly conduct.
