SMASH & GRAB – BETHESDA, MD

On 7/2/21, at approximately 11:20 a.m., two subjects entered a retail jewelry store and asked to look at men’s gold chains. The team member showed the chains from inside the case but didn’t take any of them out of the case. The two subjects left the store and returned a short time later. One of the subjects said he wanted to open up an account but he didn’t have identification with him and they left the store again. The third time the subjects came to the store, one of them brought in a tire iron. The larger of the two subjects smashed the glass of the men’s chain case with the tire iron. Each of them grabbed men’s chains from the case and fled the store. Montgomery County Police were called and responded to investigate the incident.

Both subjects are Black males. The first subject is 6′ and approximately 37-years-old. He has a large build and was last seen wearing a white hard hat, a bright yellow buff covering his face, a yellow reflective long sleeve shirt, blue jeans, and white tennis shoes. The second subject is 5’6″ and approximately 25-years-old. He has a small build and was last seen wearing a white hard hat, a light blue surgical mask, apple earphones, a yellow reflective short sleeve shirt, blue jeans, and brown boots. If you have any information regarding these subjects, please contact the Jewelers’ Security Alliance at jsa2@jewelerssecurity.org or 212-687-0328.
