On 5/25/21, at approximately 4:00 p.m., a male subject called a jewelry store and attempted to buy a jewelry over the phone by using a credit card. The subject requested the jewelry be released to a friend picking it up for him. The jewelry store contacted the card holder and discovered the credit card was not authorized to be used. The store discovered this information before the jewelry was released. Approximately 1 ½ hours later, a male subject called another jewelry store to buy a $7,200 bracelet using a credit card over the phone. The subject told the employee that his friend would come to the store to pick up the bracelet. A male subject did pick up the bracelet. The business later discovered the transaction was not authorized. The male who picked up the bracelet was described as black and wearing a dark baseball hat, a blue mask, a white shirt, white shorts and yellow flip-flops. If you have any information regarding this subject, or a similar type of crime, please contact the Jewelers’ Security Alliance at jsa2@jewelerssecurity.org or 212-687-0328.
