DIAMOND SWITCH – DURHAM, NC

On 7/25/17, at approximately 1:22 p.m., a suspect stated he was looking for a ring for his girlfriend. He said his name was Damon. He looked at three stones. The third stone was placed on the mounting for viewing. During the presentation, the suspect bumped the pad and the diamond and setting fell to the floor. The suspect picked up the diamond and setting and gave it back to the sales associate. At that point, the suspect said his phone was going dead and he needed to take it to his car to charge. He quickly left the store and backed away from the store. The suspect was described as a 37-year-old black male. He is 5’9” and has a medium complexion. He has a tattoos on his neck, arm and hands. He is clean shaven and has crooked teeth. He also has round solitaire stud earring in his left ear. He was last seen wearing a red ball cap and white t-shirt. He also wore a black belt with gold buckle with the name Balmain engraved on it. He was seen driving a light gold or silver Nissan Altima with a sunroof.
