DISTRACTION THEFT – DAYTON, OH

On 8/28/21, at approximately 12:15 p.m., two subjects entered a jewelry store and were greeted by a team member.  The subjects purchased polishing cloths with cash and were looking at jewelry cleaner.  The subjects went to the case where chains and bracelets are kept.  They tried on chains and bracelets and while the team member took his eyes off the case for a second after placing an item back inside, the video review revealed that one subject reached into the case and stole a pillow containing bracelets.  This was out of a case that opens up and slides out onto the sales floor.  The police were called, a report filed and fingerprints obtained. The subjects were described as two Black males that are approximately 35-years-old, 5’10”, and 200 lbs.  Both wore white t-shirts and one had an alligator picture on it. One wore a Houston Astro’s baseball cap and had ripped jeans. If you have any information regarding these subjects, please contact the Jewelers’ Security Alliance at 212-687-0328 or jsa2@jewelerssecurity.org .
