DISTRACTION THEFT – HAMMOND, LA

On 7/3/16, at approximately 4:25 p.m., a male and female subject inquired about gold chains, bracelets and watches. The subjects picked 11 pieces they wanted to purchase. They also showed the sales associate a large amount of cash they had to pay for the items. The male subject insisted on having the items placed in gift boxes. After scanning the merchandise for the couple, the male subject said he didn’t have didn’t have enough cash and wanted to return with a credit card. He asked to see the items again and removed the pieces he did not want. A bracelet was removed from the other items. When the sales associate turned to place the bracelet on the counter, it is believed the subject took two gold chains and a cross from the counter. The couple then left the store. The male subject is described as Portuguese and in his early 20’s. He is 5’7 has dark olive skin and black hair. He also has a slim beard and wore a light colored shirt and shorts. The second subject is a 40-year-old-female. She is 5’3, has a medium build and olive skin. She was last seen with black hair pulled back. She was last seen wearing a black and white outfit and carrying a black clutch purse.
