ELMHURST, NY – DISTRACTION THEFT

On 10/22/20, at approximately 1:07 p.m., a male and female subject entered a jewelry store. The male subject walked to the gold showcase and the female subject positioned herself at another showcase. Initially, the sales associate approached the male subject who then directed the sales associate to assist the female subject.

While the sales associate was distracted by the female subject, the male subject managed to open the showcase and remove a display containing seven gold bracelets. The showcase is a side by side case with sliding glass doors. It appears the subject pushed on the glass door to defeat the pin lock. After concealing the merchandise, the subject closed the showcase and exited the store. The female subject exited shortly thereafter. The items were discovered missing later in the day.

Both subjects are Black. The male has a thin build. He was last seen wearing a black hat, a mask and black Nike Air Max hoody. The female has a medium build. She was last seen wearing a torn jean jacket and a black mask. If you have any information regarding these subjects, please email the Jewelers’ Security Alliance at jsa2@jewelerssecurity.org.
