GRAB AND RUN – LAKE GROVE, NY

On 9/10/20, at 3:20 a.m., a male subject approached a kiosk and stated he was interested in gold chains. After discussing the chains, the subject requested to look at the 30” rope chain. While in possession of the 30” rope chain, the subject requested to look at the 24” rope chain. The sales associate removed the 24” rope chain from the showcase but before the chain could be presented, the subject grabbed the chain and ran with both chains. No injuries were reported. The subject ran away but left his wallet behind on the showcase. The wallet contained the subject’s driver’s license and social security card. The wallet was given to the police. The subject was previously trespassed from the mall.   Mall security provided video of the subject running towards the bus stop where he gave the chains to a woman boarding the bus. The subject was described as a 37-year-old Black male. He is 6’1” and has a medium build.
