On 6/5/18, at approximately 7:30 p.m., a jewelry store manager and another man subdued a thief who had fled from a jewelry store with a gold chain and bracelet. The suspect was later identified as 32-year-old David Moreland.
Moreland tried to negotiate the price of a 10-carat gold chain with the manager. At that point, Moreland fled from the store with the chain.  Moreland was subsequently arrested. During his arraignment Moreland’s lawyer, Stephen Dalrymple argued that Moreland was desperate for money because his 4-year-old daughter is terminally ill. Recommendation: Never pursue a thief that has stolen merchandise.
