JEWELER FOUND AFTER HE WAS KIDNAPPED – COSTA MESA, CA

On 12/4/19, a jewelry store owner was found bound with duct tape after he was kidnapped. At approximately 10:15 p.m., police responded to an alarm at a jewelry store. The responding officers found the store’s doors were locked. After searching the business, officers found no signs of theft. The store’s safe was also secured. The store closed at 6:00 p.m. and the owner’s whereabouts were unknown. A missing persons report was filed after the jeweler’s family conversed with law enforcement.

The owner had left his business around 6:30 p.m. He was walking to the parking lot while carrying cash and jewelry. At that point, the owner was punched by the subjects. They also tried to choke him. The jeweler’s hands and legs were tied and he was forced into the trunk of his own car. The subjects drove the jeweler seven miles to an empty parking lot. The jeweler was later found bloody and unconscious. He was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

After the attack, surveillance footage showed two men inside the jewelry store. At this time, it is unknown if merchandise was stolen from the store. If you have any information regarding the subjects involved, please call the Jewelers’ Security Alliance at 212-687-0328.
