Jewelry Store Owner Patrick Murphy Killed; Suspect Arrested

February 28, 2019 - New Orleans, LA

On the date listed above, Patrick Murphy was found dead in what police are investigating as a homicide. Murphy’s body was found in a first-floor room of the Empress Hotel in New Orleans, LA. Hotel staff discovered Murphy unresponsive and lying in bed. The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) called Murphy’s death a homicide by cutting; evidently from a stab wound.

Police in New Orleans have secured an arrest warrant for 25-year-old Megan Hall. According to the NOPD, “police have positively identified Hall as the perpetrator.”Â

The New Orleans Advocate has reported that Murphy checked into the hotel room with Hall at 2:00 a.m. on February 28, 2019. Hall was observed leaving the hotel at 4:00 a.m.

Update: On March 3, 2019, Megan Hall surrendered to police with her attorney. She was charged with second-degree murder. Hall also has a history of prostitution arrests.
