Jewelry store owner was injured during a robbery!

Madrid, Spain – On May 4, 2021, shortly after 1:40 p.m., a 47-year-old jewelry store owner was injured during a robbery.

At the time of the robbery, the subject wore a mask with a person’s face. He threatened the owner with what was described as an uzi-type sub machine gun and a pistol, which both turned out to be simulated weapons. He was also armed with a hammer, which he used to smash his way through the store.

A struggle ensued between the robber and the jeweler. After witnessing the commotion, the police officer who arrived on scene discharged his weapon. The gunfire resulted in the jeweler suffering injuries in his abdomen, and the policeman suffering injuries in his face due to splinters.

The owner was able to escape and hide in the store next door. The owner and police officer were taken to hospitals.  The policeman needed stitches in his eyebrow. The jeweler was described as having a reserved prognosis. The robber was arrested.
