Nigerian man wanted for killing jeweler in Thailand

Bangkok, Thailand — On March 24, 2019 a Nigerian man identified as John Odoemenam, allegedly killed a jeweler in her hotel room in Bangkok.

John is suspected to have used a fake South African passport under another name. According to police, Odoemenam was captured on security cameras leaving the room of Susama Ruenrit, 35, on the morning of March 24, 2019.

A hotel receptionist, along with staff checked the room at noon after Ruenrit failed to pay her bill. After the deceased did not answer the door, the receptionist used a spare key and found Ruenrit’s body wrapped in a sheet. She was hit on the head.

The jeweler checked into the hotel at 9:50 p.m. on Saturday. She went out and then returned at 4:00 a.m. The security cameras captured Odoemenaum entering her room at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday. He then departed her room 45 minutes later.
