SMASH & GRAB – TROY, MI

On 12/10/18, at approximately 8:30 p.m., a subject entered a jewelry store and used pepper spray to incapacitate the store’s security guard. The subject then used a hammer to breach a glass display case. He took jewelry and then fled from the store. Approximately one week prior to this incident, another smash and grab occurred in Clinton Township, MI. In that incident, three robbers entered a store shortly before 8:30 p.m. After smashing display cases, subjects then proceeded to escape with 150 diamond rings valued at more than $100,000. Detectives in Troy, MI and their colleagues in Clinton Township will consult to determine if the two events are connected. Clinton Township Detective Capt.
