Suspect shot after stabbing employee

September 2, 2022 - Buford, GA

On the date listed above, at approximately 11:20 a.m., a male suspect, later identified as 27-year-old Jose Reyes-Serrato (featured), smashed display cases in a jewelry store in an attempted smash and grab robbery.

A 55-year-old male employee intervened and attempted to stop the suspect, however, he was stabbed multiple times by Reyes-Serrato.

Reyes-Serrato then fled from the store and entered into a silver pick-up truck. Gwinnett police pursued the suspect and were able to ram the vehicle the suspect drove. As a result, the suspect then fled on foot, and he was subsequently shot by a police officer.

Reyes-Serrato is in stable condition. The employee was described as having severe injuries, but he is expected to survive.
