$1.6 Million Gold Thief Reveals How He Pulled Off Heist

New York, NY – February 5, 2018 – On September 29, 2016, Julio Nivelo, stole $1.6 million worth of gold bars from the back of an unattended armored truck.

After removing the gold bucket and carrying it on his shoulder, Nivelo realized there were two gold bars inside the bucket. Nivelo walked 20 blocks to the nearest Home Depot and purchased an electric saw. He then cut through the bars of gold.

The next day, Nivelo took a small piece of gold to a friend who worked on 46th Street in New York’s Diamond District. Nivelo’s friend gave him $230,000. At that point Nivelo calculated the value and realized he had 1.6 million worth of gold in his home.

Although Nivelo was arrested for his crime, he has gained significant infamy and people now refer to him as, “The Golden Boy.”
