CONCORD, CA — Five suspects have been charged for a gang-related robbery of a jewelry store at Sunvalley Shopping Center in Concord. Their arrests on June 28 resulted from two overlapping police investigations.
The five suspects are identified as:
Cameron J. Haynes, 21, of Oakland
Terry L. Franklin, 29, of Daly City
Lavar Kent, 19, of San Francisco
Eric A. Howard, 18, of San Francisco
Teric H. Howard, 21, of San Francisco
Concord police responded to the robbery in progress, June 28 at 1:24 p.m. Display cases were smashed at the Banter by Piercing Pagoda jewelry store, but the thieves fled with jewelry before Concord officers arrived.
Meanwhile, San Francisco police conducting an undercover gang surveillance operation had followed a vehicle to the shopping center. It turns out that same vehicle was used allegedly for the jewelry store robbery.
Investigators determined the fleeing suspects switched vehicles, and then drove to Richmond. The overlapping San Francisco PD investigation helped Concord police identify the robbery suspects.
“Intelligence sharing between agencies remains critical in investigating and disrupting organized retail crime,” Concord police said in a prepared statement. “The swift identification and arrests of the suspects highlights the strong partnership between Concord police and San Francisco police.”
Concord police made the arrests in Richmond. Residences in Richmond and Oakland were searched, where the stolen jewelry was recovered, and along with firearms.
Haynes remains in custody at the Martinez Detention Facility. The other four suspects are being held
at the West County Detention Facility. All five suspects are charged with second-degree robbery,
conspiracy, street-gang terrorism, and related charges.
