Jeweler Charged in Multi-Million Dollar Fraud

Providence, R.I. – On July 20, 2017, 51-year-old jeweler Gerald Kent, was formally accused of defrauding a debtor finance company of more than $3.6 million dollars.

According to officials, Kent is a wholesale jeweler who primarily sold merchandise on the internet.

According to court documents, Kent allegedly submitted hundreds of fraudulent invoices to the debt finance company. As a result, he received payment.

Investigators were informed of this fraud from an information technology contractor who worked for Kent. According to the contractor, Kent asked him to create fraudulent websites and discussed fraudulent invoices with him on numerous occasions.

Kent is facing federal wire fraud charges and identity theft charges.
