DISTRACTION THEFT – STATEN ISLAND, NY

On 10/19/2022, at approximately 7:10 p.m., while a retail team member was closing the store and securing the merchandise, three subjects approached the store and requested face masks.� The subjects consisted of one male and two females.� The subjects left after receiving the masks.� Approximately 10 minutes later, the two female subjects returned and requested another mask.� At this point, the team member was securing the diamond jewelry.� The team member thought everything was secured when she walked away to retrieve another mask.� However, the team member noticed the male subject walking away with a tray of three diamond necklaces.� The team member called out to the male subject causing him to return the tray.� However, one of the diamond necklaces was missing.� The three subjects fled from the mall.� The team member notified mall security and the New York Police Department.� If you have any information regarding these subjects, please contact the Jewelers’ Security Alliance at jsa2@jewelerssecurity.org.

The following descriptions of the subjects were provided

Subject 1 �” Male, Black, 35 to 40 yrs, 5’7”, facial hair, thin build, wearing all black, about 5’7″ and some facial hair, not much, just a light beard.

Subject 2 �” Female, Black, 35 to 40 yrs, 5’5”, medium build, wearing black clothing

Subject 3 �” Female, Black, 35 to 40 yrs, 5’7”, thin build, wearing black clothing, a black hat, and a black mask with rhinestones.
