ATTEMPTED SMASH & GRAB – SAN DIEGO, CA

On 3/15/23, at 3:26 p.m., three subjects entered a jewelry store and asked to see earrings and gold chains. Based on demonstrated suspicious behaviors, store staff contacted mall security, yet prior to their arrival, the subjects exited the store. Shortly after, the subjects returned and after browsing for approximately 5-10 minutes, subject #1 began to slam the showcase containing gold with a large rubber mallet. As mall security approached the store, subjects #2 & #3 fled the store, while approximately 10 seconds later, subject #1 also fled the store without taking any gold jewelry out of the smashed showcase.Â
