Burglars initially drill through wrong business

Central London – March 4, 2020 – Two Romanian nationals were recently sentenced to six years in prison for committing a burglary at a jewelry store.

After 32 minutes of deliberation jurors found Florin-Cristin NEAGU and Sorin MUNTEANU guilty. The two men and their accomplice Nicolae SISCA, who previously admitted his involvement, committed the burglary over March 23-24, 2019.

The indictment indicates that the men tried to gain access to the jewelry store on March 23, 2019, but they drilled through the wall of a betting shop instead. SISCA was shown on video crawling into the betting shop, but then turned back. Jurors were also shown footage of MUNTEANU painting security cameras white.

On March 24, 2019, the suspects stole jewelry from the jewelry store on the same day of a half-marathon in London. They used the cheering of crowds to their advantage. The suspects fled the United Kingdom within 48 hours of the burglary, however, they were arrested in Romania and extradited back to the United Kingdom last year.
