DISTRACTION THEFT – CANTON, OH

On 1/12/22, at approximately 4:27 p.m. a retail jewelry store was the victim of a distraction theft.� Two male subjects entered the store at 4:15 p.m. and were assisted by an employee at the display case containing diamond earrings.� Subject #1 asked to look at multiple pairs of diamond earrings for his twin daughters and proceeded to state that he would like to think about purchasing the 14KW 2 ct. PC Solitaire Earrings valued at $8759.00 and a pair of 14K YG 1 ct. Solitaire Earrings valued at $2509.00.� The employee then placed both pairs of earrings on the counter by the register.

Both subject #1 and subject #2 then left the store around 4:22 p.m. only to return at 4:27 p.m. and subject #1 proceeded over to the register, reached over the counter and stole both pairs of earrings, and handed them to subject #2 who then left the store.� At 4:38 pm subject #1 returned back to the store and asked to look at a pair of 14K WG 3ct Lab Created Diamond Earrings valued at $11,259.00.

The earrings were then placed by the register while subject #1 continued to browse around the store while the employee searched for the certification card.� At 4:46 p.m. subject #1 reached over the counter and stole the earrings and component and immediately left the store.

Subject #1 was described as Black and between 35-38 years old. He is 6”0″ and weighs 160 lbs. He was last seen wearing a black and white tracksuit, a grey hat, and a black and red mask.

Subject #2 was described as Black and between 15-18 years old. He is 5’7″ and weighs 150 lbs. He was last seen wearing a black coat, blue jeans, red and white tennis shoes, and a black mask.
