Fugitive Caught After 26 Years On The Run

Hialeah, FL
On August 14, 2016, 66-year-old Anibal Mustelier was arrested by the Hialeah police Department in connection with three jewelry store related offenses. Mustelier was a fugitive for 26 years.

He was sought by the U.S. Marshals, Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Mustelier and two other suspects; Jose Pineda-Castro, 25, and Yamile Diaz Bernal, 27, face charges including false imprisonment, attempted robbery and armed burglary.

According to investigators, Mustelier, Pineda-Castro and another man cut a hole into the roof of a jewelry store. They proceeded to cut electrical wires, which caused a power outage in the shopping center. The police were able to get Mustelier to confess his role in the burglary to a confidential informant.

During several robberies, Mustelier and his team would point guns in the faces of jewelry store employees. Some employees were duct taped and others were thrown on the ground. Mustelier’s most recent heist attempt occured on August 8, 2016 in Hialeah, FL.

Mustelier is currently being held without bond. Investigators are searching for a fourth suspect identified as Etiam Regalado, 24. He is believed to be an accomplice of Mustelier.

If you have any information regarding Regalado’s whereabouts, please contact Miami Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
