GRAB & RUN – GAINESVILLE, FL

On 5/23/21, at approximately 2:30 p.m., a grab and run theft occurred at a retail jewelry store and a 4 carat princess/round/baguette diamond right hand ring, valued at $7,999 was stolen. The subject first asked to see a $4,000 diamond ring, claiming it was for a girlfriend. He appeared nervous, was shaking a bit, and pulled out a large amount of cash and showed it to the store’s sales associate. After handing back the first ring, the subject asked to see another ring. He then put his cash on the showcase and put his elbow over it. The ring was removed, but the sales associate was apprehensive and maintained possession. The subject then asked, “can I hold the ring?” He then placed the ring on his pinky finger, picked up his money, said thanks, and started walking away. Once out of the store, the subject began running and was seen getting on a bus outside of the mall.

The subject was described as a Black male in his late 20’s. He is 6’0″ and thin. He was last seen wearing a black jacket with leopard skin front, black pants and an American flag mask/scarf pulled up over his face.
