Milford, CT– Police are investigating a smash-and-grab theft at the Connecticut Post Mall where $50,000 worth of jewelry was stolen over the weekend.

The theft occurred on Saturday when officers responded to the mall on the report of shots fired, according to the Milford Police Department.

Responding officers found that gunshots had not been fired and that a theft occurred in a Macy’s store where three jewelry cases were smashed, police said. The thieves used hammers to smash the cases before making off with about $50,000 worth of jewelry, according to police.

No injuries were reported. The suspects fled the area in a vehicle. The theft remains under investigation.
