
Newport News, VA– On April 2, 2026, A jewelry store reported a grab and run theft when a man approached the kiosk and asked if they had a ring the size of his pinky that would fit. He was shown a small children’s ring and as he was trying it on, he asked to see a pair of silver diamond screw back earrings as well. As the employee was attempting to get the ring back from him, the suspect took the earrings from their hand. He then looked at the employee apologized saying “I’m sorry”. He then ran with both items. Mall security was advised and a report filed with local police. No injuries occurred in this incident. As he fled from the scene the suspect ran out of his ‘slides’ and left them behind as he fled barefoot.
Suspect(s) Description: The suspect is described as a black male in his early 40s. He wore a white tank top, skinny jeans dark in color washed in a denim blue look. He wore slides on his feet and held a half-smoked cigarette in his hand.
