ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A man is in the hospital as Rochester Police say they found him in a jewelry store while responding to a report of a burglary.

Police say at around 5 a.m. Wednesday, officers responded to Jorshimal Jewelry on Vincent Street for a report of a man inside stealing jewelry.

While checking the store, police say they found the suspect bleeding from a cut to his arm. The man was brought to Strong Memorial Hospital, where police say he was quickly brought into surgery for serious injuries.

Investigators say it is believed the suspect entered the store through the roof of the building and emptied about $60,000 worth of jewelry into a canvas bag.

Police say due to the suspect’s condition, he hasn’t been identified, and charges will be determined and filed later.
