Sacramento, CA– A jewelry store in Citrus Heights was burglarized over the weekend, authorities confirmed.

An estimated $25,000 in jewelry was stolen in a smash and grab from KAY Jewelers inside Sunrise Mall on either Sunday night or early Monday morning, Citrus Heights Police said Tuesday.

There are no suspects at this time, and police said they are working to obtain and process camera footage from the store as part of the investigation.

KAY Jewelers was closed for business on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. A decent-sized hole in the front glass window of the storefront could be seen on a visit to the jewelry store Tuesday. The entire storefront is also blocked off by yellow caution tape.

KAY Jewelers store manager Nemo Smith referred all questions from media to the jewelry store’s corporate offices.

According to documents from the Citrus Heights Historical Society compiled during the mall’s 50th anniversary, KAY Jewelers is one of the original stores to open when the mall opened in the 1970’s. Smith confirmed the Citrus Heights store is the oldest KAY Jewelers location in the Sacramento region.
