SMASH AND GRAB – VIRGINIA BEACH, VA

On 8/25/18, at approximately 2:04 p.m., a subject entered a retail jewelry store and inquired about an engagement ring. He stated his price range was $3000. The subject and an associate discussed credit. The associate took the subject to a� display case where the subject took interest in pre-set rings. The associate entered the subject’s contact information into her tablet. She then told him she needed his drivers’ license. The subject said it was in his car. The associate told him to go get it. He went to get it and came back in.

Once the subject returned to the showcase, he revealed a hammer from his waistband. The subject then smashed the showcase, took jewelry and fled from the store. He escaped into a 2005/2006 Ford Fusion which was driven by a second individual.

The subject was described as a 27-year-old Black male. He is dark skinned and about 5’7.” He weighs approximately 140 lbs. He was last seen wearing navy pants, a navy jacket and a khaki bucket style hat with a brim and a sting under his chin.
