SMASH & GRAB – WATERBURY, CT

On 4/1/2024, at approximately 4:44 p.m., three male subjects approached a jewelry kiosk in a mall and walked directly to the showcase containing gold chains, gold bracelets, and gold charms. Using hammers, the subjects smashed the showcase glass. After defeating the glass, the subjects grabbed multiple trays of merchandise and ran from the store. No injuries were reported.

Mall Security and the Waterbury Police were notified. Mall Security reported there was a fourth subject driving a car. The three subjects were dropped off at the mall entrance. The driver circled the parking lot and returned to the entrance to pick up the three subjects. The car appeared to be a silver or gray Honda. The subjects entered the mall at 4:44 p.m. and exited at 4:45 p.m. The subjects were described as three thin black males, between 18 to 25 years of age. Two were 5’10” and one was 5’9″. Each subject wore a hooded jacket, gloves, and a mask. At least one subject wore orange gloves.
