SUSPECT INDICTED FOR MURDER OF JEWELER – NEW ORLEANS, LA

On 6/13/19,� 25-year-old Magen Hall was charged with second-degree murder. Hall is accused of murdering 62-year-old jeweler Patrick Murphy overnight between February 28 and 29, 2019. Murphy’s body was discovered by a housekeeper inside of Murphy’s Hotel room in New Orleans on February 28, 2019. New Orleans Police Homicide Detective Patrick Guidry testified in court that Murphy was killed by three stab wounds; which entailed one to the neck and two in his abdomen. Hall was also charged with armed robbery and obstruction of justice. According to Orleans Parish District Attorney Leon Cannizzaro, Hall faces a mandatory life sentence in prison if she is convicted on the murder charge. She would receive between 10 to 99 years in prison if convicted on the armed robbery charge. She would also face up to 40 years if convicted on the obstruction charge.
