On the date listed above, U.S. District Court Chief Judge Jon DeGuilio, sentenced 30-year-old Altonio Dequan Benson (featured), to 84 months or 7 years in prison for his involvement in a $1 million smash and grab robbery in Hobart, IN on January 25, 2019.
Benson, of Detroit, MI, pleaded guilty to robbery affecting interstate commerce. He was ordered to pay restitution of  $422,552. Benson’s accomplice, Darren Bell, was sentenced to 39 years in prison for his involvement in the crime. He was also ordered to pay the same amount in restitution as Benson. A third subject is still unidentified. Benson has seven prior felony convictions and he was on probation when he committed the robbery.
