SMASH AND GRAB – MERRILLVILLE, IN

On 1/25/19, at approximately 7:51 p.m., three subjects entered a jewelry store. Two of the subjects brandished hammers. They then began smashing five diamond showcases. Two guests were in the store along with six associates and four jewelers. One of the guests, who fled from the store, waved down a mall security vehicle and reported the robbery. Mall security then contacted the Hobart Police. Two of the subjects fled from the store. The police arrived and then chased after the subjects. They managed to apprehend them. They are both from Detroit, MI. The third subject escaped. He was described as a 5’10” Black male. He is 180 pounds and was last seen wearing a blue hoodie, red gloves, and dark slacks.
