HOUSTON, TX – DIAMOND SWITCH

On 8/9/16, at approximately 6:00 p.m., a sales associate was assisting a suspect who wanted to see diamond bands. The suspect wanted to see a 1 carat band. After being shown the ring, he wanted to see a 2 carat band. As the sales associate went into the display case, he briefly took his eyes off of the suspect who was still in possession of the 1 carat band. The sales associate took the ring back from the suspect and handed her a new 2 carat ring. The sales associate placed the 1 carat ring back into the showcase without checking for an SKU tag or diamond testing the ring. The suspect then returned the 2 carat ring as well and left the store. The suspect managed to switch the real ring with a fake ring. The suspect is described as a Black female. She is 5’6” and weighs 220 pounds. She was last seen wearing a royal blue polo style shirt and black slacks. She has shoulder length wavy hair and brown eyes. She was wearing glasses and also carried a black purse. If you have any information regarding the identity of this individual, please contact the Houston Police Department at 713-884-3131.
