On 8/6/19, at approximately 6:00 p.m., a male subject entered a retail jewelry store and produced a credit card to purchase a men’s gold chain. Before the subject presented the card to store personnel, he spoke to another male and female customer inside the store. The subject was overheard telling them, “I hope this card works.” The subject’s card did not work. At that point, the assistant manager told the subject she would need another form of payment and identification that matched, in order to process the sale. The manager turned away to pass a set of keys to an associate. She left the chain in front of the subject. When she turned back around, the chain was gone. She asked him where the chain was and he said he had given it to the other employee. The assistant manager asked him to empty his pockets. He declined and the second male subject stated they had to leave. The three subjects then left the store.
The subject that attempted to use the credit card was described as a 25-year-old Black male. He has dreadlocks and was last seen wearing an eye patch over his right eye. He is 5’8” and has chipped front teeth. He also has a slim build. The male that conversed with him was described as 25-years-old and White. He has short dirty blonde hair cut into a shaggy style. He had facial hair on his chin. He is 5’10.” The female was described as White and in her mid 20’s. She is approximately 5’4” and has brown hair.
