ATTEMPTED SMASH & GRAB – CHARLOTTE, NC

On 6/19/19, at approximately 7:00 p.m., three subjects entered a jewelry store and went directly to the gold showcase. They asked if the store carried 14kt gold. They also inquired about the store’s layaway program. They were at the counter for approximately 30 seconds. At that point, one of the subjects pulled out a tire iron and began hitting the glass on top of the showcase. He hit the showcase several times, but he failed to breach the glass. He gave up and left the tire iron behind. He fled from the store with two other subjects; a young male and a female. They fled in a black Toyota Camry with a temporary tag.

The first subject was described as a Black female in his early 30’s. She has a heavy build and wore a white hat with a blue shirt and white shirts. The second and third subjects are Black males in their early 20’s with thin builds. If you have any information on these subjects, please call the Jewelers’ Security Alliance at 212-687-0328.
