DISTRACTION THEFT – GREENVILLE, NC

On 2/18/21, at approximately 3:00 p.m., a female subject told the sales associate that she was interested in a chain. She picked one out and tried it on. The chain she returned to the sales associate was not the same chain. The sales associate showed the manager the chain and the subject began to argue with them. Mall security was called and followed the woman out of the mall to a car. Mall security got the license plate and reported it to the police. It was later determined that the woman had tried to sell her original necklace to another jeweler in the mall, and they refused. It appears that she switched that same necklace with the one from the incident described above. Police will charge the woman. She is a 30-year-old, Black and 5’2″. She was last seen wearing a black wig, jeans and a black hoodie.
