Anchorage, Alaska– Police also say Mixon broke into two other Anchorage businesses during the crime spree.
Mixon is being charged with the following:
Three counts of second-degree burglary
Second-degree theft
Three counts of first-degree criminal trespassing
Two counts of third-degree criminal mischief
Anchorage police said that Mixon took off to Homer after the Anchorage break-ins, where he committed “additional property crimes.”
Mixon was found and arrested in Homer, and an APD spokesperson said that he is being held at Wildwood Correctional Complex in Kenai.
David’s Jewelers store manager Deborah Godfrey told Alaska’s News Source last month after the break-in that while Mixon caused significant damage — including a shattered front window — he got away with very little in value.
Mixon reportedly tried to smash one of the stores showcases but failed to get through, Godfrey said at the time. “The only showcase he attempted to shatter had brass and glass, so sample pieces, and he wasn’t able to make it through the glass, but enough damage was done to that showcase, so we’ll have to replace that piece of glass,” she said.
Godfrey said it was the first after-hours break-in in the store’s 35-year history. Anchorage police credited help from the Homer Police Department, as well as community members who called in with tips, for narrowing their search down to Mixon.
