On 8/20/16, at approximately 7:00 p.m., a subject requested to look at a heart ring. He held the ring up in a way that caused the sales associate to turn her body to look at the ring. As this occurred, the showcase was unlocked. While the suspect was distracting the sales associate, he reached into the showcase and removed two rings. The sales associate heard the suspect hit his hand in the showcase, as he removed rings. The sales associate then grabbed the heart ring and placed it back into the showcase. The subject then quickly left the store. The subject was described as a 45-year-old Black male. He is 5’2” and has a thin build. He had black dreadlocks and wore a hat with a dark shirt and pants.
