GANG MEMBER SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS – SALINAS, CA

On 11/27/18, law enforcement authorities announced that 31-year-old Anthony Lek, a gang member linked to the Norteno affiliated Santa Rita street gang was sentenced to 15 years in prison. Earlier this year, Lek pleaded guilty to charges of racketeering conspiracy, robbery affecting interstate commerce and using a firearm in a violent crime.

Lek was one of nine men charged in Operation Daybreak. On June 2, 2010, Lek pointed a gun at employees of a jewelry store and demanded they open the jewelry cases. Lek and an accomplice then zip-tied employees before escaping with $800,000 in jewelry. Lek has been in custody since his 2015 arrest.
