MAN GETS 32 YEAR SENTENCE FOR 1988 MURDER OF JEWELER – PASADENA, CA

On 10/11/18, 56-year-old Albert Clark of Los Angeles, CA was sentenced to 32 years to life in prison. Clark was convicted of shooting a jewelry salesman at a gas station in Pasadena, CA. During the course of the trial, the evidence demonstrated that Clark was one of the jeweler’s customers. According to Lt. Jesse Carrillo of the Pasadena Police Department, the motive for the killing was a robbery. The jeweler went to the gas station to meet Clark for what he thought would be a sale. At some point, Clark shot and killed the jeweler. He fled from the scene and discarded his clothing and the murder weapon. Police recovered the clothing and the gun. Clark was arrested in 1988, but he was released in February 1989 because there was a lack of evidence needed to prosecute him for the crime. In 2013, the jeweler’s daughter asked detectives to review the case. The clothing recovered from the crime scene was submitted for DNA testing. The blood on the clothing matched the jeweler’s blood.
