More than 25 customers accuse jeweler of swindling them

Lawrenceville, GA – On June 19, 2019, the Lawrenceville Police Department issued a flyer regarding complaints against 55-year-old jeweler, Timothy New.

According to the flyer, customers brought Mr. New jewelry with the understanding that the items would be sold on their behalf. Mr. New allegedly used the proceeds of the jewelry sales for his own use, rather than compensate customers he owed.

In addition, other customers paid Mr. New to design and make custom jewelry. Mr. New never completed the work and refused to refund his customers’ money.

Mr. New was arrested on May 30 on nine counts of theft by conversion and one count of theft by taking.
