Nassau County, NY– A jeweler was followed from his New York home and robbed of $1.2 million in merchandise in New Jersey after his residence was surveilled multiple times, authorities said.
The Major Case Squad announced the arrests on Saturday, Feb. 21, following the incident that began at 10:40 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12 in Lawrence, according to the release.
A 59-year-old male jeweler left his Marbridge Road residence on Long Island and traveled to Manalapan, New Jersey, where merchandise valued at $1.2 million was taken from his vehicle, detectives explained.
Investigators determined the victim’s home had been surveilled multiple times before the theft and that he was followed into New Jersey, according to authorities.
The Major Case Squad worked alongside the Manalapan Police Department and the FBI’s Tampa Bay office during the investigation, officials said.
On Thursday, Feb. 20, the following suspects were arrested, police said :
Yina Paola, 34, of Corona.
Jairo Fernan Diaz, 43, of College Point.
Cristian Adolfo Preciado Almanza, who is undomiciled.
All three were charged with Conspiracy 4th Degree and released on appearance tickets, authorities said.
US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents took custody of the defendants, according to the release.
