Suspect arrested for murder of retired police captain

June 2, 2020 - St. Louis, MO

On the date listed above, at approximately 2:30 a.m., 77-year-old retired police Captain, David Dorn, was shot and killed outside of a jewelry pawn shop. Dorn assisted the owners of the pawn shop by utilizing his law enforcement training. He provided security for the business. When the store’s alarm would go off, Dorn would respond to asses the situation.

Dorn spent 38 years with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department before he became the police chief in Moline Acres, MO.

 

Update: On June 7, 2020, St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner announced that Stephan Cannon, 24, was charged with first-degree murder, first degree robbery, first degree burglary and three counts of armed criminal action and being a felon in possession of a weapon.
