ROBBERS SENTENCED – MCALLEN, TX

On 8/14/19, a second suspect pleaded guilty for his involvement in an attempted robbery of $2.7 million in watches from a jewelry store on 8/28/18 in McAllen, TX. Raul Rangel, 44, and six other suspects used sledgehammers to smash a jewelry store’s glass display cases. Shoppers mistook the sound of sledgehammers hitting the glass as gunshots. On 8/8/19, District Judge Israel Ramon Jr. sentenced Rangel’s accomplices. 24-year-old Brayan Oliver Melchor received 25-years-in prison. 27-year-old Miguel Quintanilla was sentenced to 14 years in prison.

Melchor was previously convicted of committing a robbery in Los Angeles, CA where 10 suspects stole more than 300 watches in 2015. The watches were valued at more than $4 million.
