Maastricht, Netherlands – On June 28, 2022, at approximately 11:30 a.m., four unmasked men approached the showcase of a jewelry firm specializing in 20th-century European Fine Jewelry at the European Fine Art Fair (TEFAF).
One of the subjects took a sledgehammer from his bag and smashed a display case open and reached in to grab jewels. Another subject brandished a weapon, and the other appeared to be trying to load his gun.
A bystander attempted to use a vase in an effort to scare off the robbers, however, one of the robbers appeared to point a gun in his direction and the bystander avoided further conflict.
