SMASH & GRAB – AUSTIN, TX

On 10/18/21, at approximately 8:33 p.m., officers from the Austin Police Department responded to reports of subjects breaking glass cases and stealing jewelry from a jewelry store at a mall. The incident initially led some to think they “possibly” heard shots, however, police found no evidence supporting that belief. Bystanders mistook the sound of breaking glass to be shots fired. Three subjects escaped after committing the smash and grab.
